DANGARFIELD EYEWITNESS

SIRE:
DAM: DANGARFIELD A180
DOB: 01.08.94

Eyewitness was shown successfully for two years and won many broad ribbons.  The most significant of these though would have to be the Senior & Grand Champion bull at Beef '97.

He is now used through AI in our maiden heifer programs when season permits us to run one.  He has sired probably the most successful home bred sire that we have ever retained in Dangarfield Improvement (see other sire notes).

Eyewitness produces offspring with a dark coast and a real fleshy carcass starting from right off the spine.  His son's have large scrotal and his daughters are fertile and produced good calves.

Semen packages are available in Dangarfield Eyewitness.

Now deceased, all progeny of Improvement are through AI. This would have to be the most placid bloodline of cattle to ever set foot on Dangarfield, probably only rivaled by the milkers. If you want an outside opinion on this, ask some of the studs who have used this bloodline for their results with his temperament.

One of his sons, Senator (pictured) was shown successfully this year, winning Supreme Interbreed Bull at Springsure after
winning his Interbreed Class of 25 bulls. Following this he was sold privately for $18,500 to the Wolff family’s Canowindra Stud.

This brings Improvement’s sons’ results to 22 sold for an average of just under $5800. His progeny are easy keeping and well muscled. Add to this that his daughters display high fertility makes this a highly valued bloodline to us.

DANGARFIELD LIEUTENANT

DANGARFIELD LIEUTENANT

SIRE: YARRAWONGA KIDNAP 209022
DAM: DANGARFIELD 516 187991
DOB: 22.08.01

The big gentle giant of Dangarfield. When he was representing us on the show circuit, he was a dream to look after from day one. The only trouble was when he stood on our toe! He weighed just over 1200kg at the Brisbane Ekka in 2004 as a three year old, after working a short season (unfed) at Dangarfield in 2003. He was retained because it is very rare to find an individual with his size, breed character, docility and looseness, and still have a near perfect sheath.

Lieutenant’s dam (516) had seven calves with a 360-day calving interval.

His daughters are particularly impressive and are valued breeders and are really starting to hit their straps, turning out some very impressive progeny. You should see this bloodline start to come through in the next generation shortly. The decision was made to use Lieutenant in the commercial herd for a season to give them a lift. This is why here is a limited number available this year. In the 2009/2010 season, Lieutenant covered our AI team as it was far too dry to conduct a program last year.

At our 2009 sale, Lieutenant had the largest offering and the highest average resulting in 10 sons averaging $6650. In total, 29 sons have sold through the ring to average just over $6560.

DANGARFIELD PATROL CHIEF

DANGARFIELD PATROL CHIEF

SIRE: DANGARFIELD KACTUS JACK 235971
DAM: DANGARFIELD 3647 246001
DOB: 13.10.05

When we found a bull by Kactus Jack out of a Frankinstein daughter with Capricorn Glengarry blood in her, it means we had combined some of our best blood lines over the past fifteen years or more. Patrol Chief’s dam (3647) has just weaned her sixth calf with a 362-day calving interval.

Until 2010, Patrol Chief has only been used in multiple joinings with 60+ cows. In the 2009-2010 season, he did a half-season single-sired. After seeing his weaners this year, we have wasted his potential, and he will do a full single-sired season in the future. One of his sons broke our weaner weight record this year, coming in at 465kg. Remarkable considering the first half of this calf’s life was during one of our driest seasons.

This is an impressive individual. Long, thick, soft and loose skinned, Patrol Chief has all the best qualities from his pedigree coming out in his progeny.

DANGARFIELD POWER HOUSE

DANGARFIELD POWER HOUSE

SIRE: DANGARFIELD KACTUS JACK 235971
DAM: DANGARFIELD 3537 245966
DOB: 15.09.05

An impressive individual. Similar bloodlines to Patrol Chief – by Kactus Jack out of a Frankinstein cow however this time with Big Sur Yeoman in her pedigree. Our Yeoman cows were some of the best breeders we have owned. At one stage, we owned 11 cows over 11 years of age still in the herd producing calves annually, and 5 of them were by Yeoman. Power House’s mother (3537) has just weaned her sixth calf with a 364-day calving interval.

Power House is a large tropical sire. Oodles of loose skin, big ears, plenty of bone and a placid nature. We just need to work out how to keep him in his paddock as he is always looking for more cows than we can supply him with – just like his grand-sire Frankinstein used to. You can pick Power House’s consistent offspring a mile off.

DANGARFIELD PAXTON

DANGARFIELD PAXTON

SIRE: DANGARFIELD JACKSON 222729
DAM: DANGARFIELD 9301 AP4.218289
DOB: 16.08.05

We retained Paxton for his good sheath, while not having to sacrifice looseness. We also wanted to continue the Jackson bloodline. Stands on good bone, large scrotal and a deep flank.

His dam has so far put three sons through our sale (Kilowatt, Leader and M148), has just weaned her ninth calf and has a calving interval of 362 days.

DANGARFIELD PLUTO

Aptly named because as a calf still on his mother, he survived a dingo attack. He has the scars and only half his rump to prove it. Retained to continue the Jackson bloodline and out of a good Improvement daughter, she had six calves with a 375-day calving interval.

A strong, level top line, tight sheath, large scrotal and a really good nature are his stand-out qualities. Pluto is breeding a consistent line of progeny. His daughters have come through their first joining with a good preg test.
